The main components of hot-melt pressure-sensitive adhesives are thermoplastic elastomers, tackifying resins, softeners, antioxidants and other additives. Petroleum resins are used as tackifiers for hot-melt adhesives. Vinyl acetate copolymer, SIS (styrene-isoprene-styrene block copolymer), SBS (styrene-butadiene-styrene block copolymer), etc. These substrates can be used alone, most in the case of blending, it is used as a hot melt adhesive substrate.

Hot melt adhesive with EVA as base material

 EVA has excellent adhesion, softness, heating fluidity and cold resistance, its cohesion is large, the melting surface tension is small, and it has adhesion to almost all substances, chemical resistance, thermal stability, weather resistance and electrical properties. It is better, and it is widely used in book binding, wood processing, plywood production, packaging, can making, shoe making and so on. Usually, the hot melt adhesive with EVA as the base material needs to be blended with two or more grades of EVA as the base material. In addition to petroleum resin, inorganic fillers, antioxidants, and pigments can also be added according to user needs, such as: TiO2, carbon black, etc. Petroleum resin has good compatibility with EVA with low VA (vinyl acetate) content, but has poor compatibility with EVA with high VA content.

Hot melt adhesive with SIS as base material

SIS is a block copolymer of styrene and isoprene, which not only has the solubility, thermoplasticity and toughness and elasticity of vulcanized rubber like SBS (styrene-butadiene-styrene), but also in some in terms of SBS, it has unique properties unmatched by SBS, such as low modulus of SIS, low solution viscosity and melt viscosity, good processing performance, good cohesion and excellent adhesion properties, and the prepared hot melt adhesive has higher transparency and viscosity. Strong is the main material used to make hot melt pressure sensitive adhesives.
