Sulfur- and mercapto-functional silane coupling agents for silica-reinforced rubber and tire compounds.
Ecopower New Material (ECOPOWER) supplies Crosile® sulfur- and mercapto-functional silane coupling agents for silica-reinforced rubber compounds, tire formulations and other mineral-filled elastomer systems.
The product range includes tetrasulfide, disulfide, thiocyanate-type, monosulfide and mercapto-functional silanes, together with liquid, solid and carbon-black-predispersed grades. These products are designed for rubber and tire manufacturers seeking improved filler dispersion, rubber–filler interaction, reinforcement, processing efficiency and selected low-VOC solutions.
Crosile® sulfur and mercapto silane coupling agents are used in passenger-car tires, truck and bus tires, shoe soles, hoses, belts, cables and other industrial rubber products. Selected mercapto-functional grades are also used for mineral filler modification, sealants, adhesives, coatings and metal–resin adhesion applications.
The comparison table below helps rubber and tire manufacturers, compounders and procurement teams review the ECOPOWER portfolio by chemical type, sulfur structure, physical form, CAS number, common market reference grade, key features and typical applications.
| ECOPOWER Grade | Chemical Name / Type | CAS No. | Physical Form / Product Form | Common Market Reference Grade | Key Features and Main Applications |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Crosile®-69 | Bis-[3-(triethoxysilyl)propyl] tetrasulfide, TESPT | 40372-72-3 | Liquid | Si 69 | Standard sulfur silane for silica-reinforced rubber compounds. Used in tire treads, shoe soles, hoses and belts. Helps improve tensile strength, tear strength and abrasion resistance while helping reduce heat build-up. |
| Crosile®-69C | TESPT with carbon black, predispersed granule | Product-specific | Solid granule | X 50-S | Convenient solid form with low dust, good flowability and easy weighing. Suitable for automated dosing and rubber-compounding operations. |
| Crosile®-75 | Bis-[3-(triethoxysilyl)propyl] disulfide, TESPD | 56706-10-6 | Liquid | Si 75 | Disulfide silane with a shorter sulfur chain than TESPT. Supports improved scorch safety and a wider mixing and processing window. |
| Crosile®-75C | TESPD with carbon black, predispersed granule | Product-specific | Solid granule | X 75-S | Solid predispersed form of the Crosile®-75 type. Supports clean handling, accurate dosing and efficient use in rubber and tire production. |
| Crosile®-264 | 3-Thiocyanatopropyltriethoxysilane | 34708-08-2 | Liquid | Si 264 | Helps improve filler dispersion, abrasion resistance and resilience. Used in shoe soles, belts and other rubber goods. |
| Crosile®-965 | Long-chain polyether mercaptosilane, oligomeric monosulfide silane | Product-specific | Liquid | Si 363 | Low-volatility monosulfide silane for high-silica rubber compounds. Supports improved filler dispersion and may enable simplified mixing processes. |
| Crosile®-966 | 3-Octanoylthiopropyltriethoxysilane, thioester type | 220727-26-4 | Liquid | Si 291 / NXT | Designed for high-silica passenger-car tire tread compounds. Supports low rolling resistance, wet-grip balance and lower volatile emissions. |
| Crosile®-969 | Low-VOC sulfur silane, improved tetrasulfide type | Product-specific | Liquid | Product-specific | Low-VOC option for selected rubber formulations. May be used as an alternative to conventional TESPT-type products, subject to formulation and process qualification. |
| Crosile®-996 | Disulfide disilatrane | Product-specific | Liquid | Si 466 | Silatrane structure designed to reduce ethanol release during mixing. May reduce or eliminate the need for DPG activator in suitable formulations. |
| Crosile®-189 | 3-Mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane, MPTMS | 4420-74-0 | Liquid | MPTMS | Used for metal-surface treatment, corrosion protection, filler modification and metal–resin adhesion promotion. |
| Crosile®-1891 | 3-Mercaptopropyltriethoxysilane, MPTES | 14814-09-6 | Liquid | MPTES | Suitable for sulfur- and metal-oxide-cured rubber systems, mineral filler modification, sealants and adhesives. |
| Crosile®-970 | 3-Mercaptopropylmethyldimethoxysilane, MPMDMS | 31001-77-1 | Liquid | MPMDMS | Provides good compatibility with mineral-filled elastomer systems. Suitable for rubber, cable and other mineral-filled applications. |
The appropriate sulfur or mercapto silane depends on the compound design, filler system, processing conditions and required performance.

The alkoxysilane groups react with hydroxyl groups on silica and other inorganic filler surfaces, while the sulfur- or mercapto-functional groups interact with the elastomer or curing system. This helps build a stronger interface between mineral fillers and rubber polymers.
Crosile® sulfur silanes can improve filler dispersion and reinforcing efficiency, supporting higher tensile strength, tear resistance, abrasion resistance and overall compound performance.
Depending on the selected grade and formulation, sulfur silanes can help reduce compound viscosity, improve filler incorporation, support more efficient mixing and provide a suitable processing window for rubber manufacturing.
The Crosile® range includes:
This range allows rubber and tire manufacturers to select a product according to their compound design, equipment, dosing method, VOC requirements and target performance.
Selected grades are suitable for compounds based on NR, SBR, BR, NBR, EPDM and related elastomer systems. Depending on the product and formulation, they can be used with silica, carbon black and other mineral fillers such as clay, talc and mica.
Packaging: Crosile® sulfur and mercapto silane coupling agents are available in commercial packaging, including 200 kg steel drums and 1,000 kg IBCs, subject to the specific product grade and supply arrangement.
ECOPOWER supports B2B customers with:
