Paint and Ink Additives Petroleum Resins in Paint Additive - ECOPOWER Sep 06, 2022

The petroleum resins used for inks in the ink industry are mainly high softening point C9 petroleum resins and DCPD resins. Adding petroleum resin to ink can play the role of color development, quick drying, brightening and improving printing performance.

Paint and Ink Additives Petroleum resins are used as paint additives, which can speed up the drying speed of the paint film and improve the water resistance, acid and alkali resistance, surface hardness and gloss of the paint. Can be used as steel anti-rust paint, marine primer and general furniture paint. With the popularity of automobiles and the development of highways, welding traffic road marking paint has become the mainstream of road marking paint.

This road marking paint has the characteristics of fast drying speed, good durability and no solvent. It consists of resins, pigments, reflective materials, plasticizers, inorganic fillers, etc. Road marking paint containing 10% to 30% hydrogenated petroleum resin has sufficient durability, good thermal stability and weather resistance. Petroleum resins can be used as film formers for printing inks. Gravure ink is made by dissolving petroleum resin, pigment, wax, etc. in aromatic hydrocarbon solvent. The resin used requires a fast film-forming speed, and the pigment maintains a stable dispersion state for a long time. Typically, a high softening point wax and hardener with carboxyl groups are used, which are then dissolved in an aliphatic solvent.
